Master’s Student Startup wins $300,000 at Vodafone’s Wireless Innovation Project

Student startup, Neopenda, recently won first place and $300,000 at Vodafone’s Wireless Innovation Project (WIP) for their wearable neonatal vital signs monitor. Neopenda, founded by recently graduated BME M.S. students Sona Shah and Teresa Cauvel, was first developed as part of the Biomedical Design course, taught by Professor Katherine Reuther.

Since its inception, the company has earned more than $500,000 in funding for research and development, and will soon begin their first field deployment in Uganda.
