The Quantitative Analytics group is responsible for the research, development, implementation, and delivery of quantitative models across all asset classes. The group works closely with each business area to understand their requirements and propose solutions to their pricing and risk issues. Located on the trading floors in London, New York, and Asia, this group reports directly to the business and provides solutions for the whole of Barclays Capital globally.
QA's mission is to generate revenue for Barclays Capital by providing the pricing and risk management solutions and advice needed for trading, structuring and sales to close trades, risk manage then on a sustainable basis, and take strategic positions. We operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment requiring strong technology, finance, quantitative, and communication skills. Work is typically set against tight deadlines in an environment where delivery of solutions to revenue earning areas of the business is critical. The teams in New York and London work closely together to ensure global standards for pricing, curve building and risk.
Quantitative Analytics is an intensely mathematical role for which we expect excellence in logical thinking, problem solving, and programming skills. You may develop and maintain models and communicate with traders, for whom you provide quantitative expertise. The flexibility to work alone, as well as in a team, is also essential.
The Barclays Capital Summer Program is designed to provide summer associates with broad exposure to the Barclays Capital businesses. This program consists of practical work assignments and various other learning opportunities throughout the summer. Through a variety of activities, summer associates will have the opportunity to network with line professionals and with their peers. The goal of the summer program is to enable the summer associates to achieve a solid understanding of the strength and capabilities of our global platform, its businesses and its culture. Specific details of the program include:
- 10 week summer program beginning in early June and ending in early August
- 1 week of formal training including Barclays Capital orientation
- Technical training (Excel, Bloomberg), Communication skills, and business specific training
- Product knowledge sessions taught by line professionals.
- Social & Networking Opportunities throughout the summer
- Mentors provided for all summer associates
- Formal review process at the mid-point and end of the summer
We consider a number of criteria including:
- Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research or other relevant quantitative area
- A solid understanding of the Markets business and a strong career focus
- Strong-to-superior verbal and written communication, quantitative and analytical skills
- Resourcefulness, team orientation, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit
- Proven leadership qualities, a strong work commitment and high ethical standards
